The Color of Air podcast featuring members of Kayo Dot / Maudlin of the Well

To promote the new Kayo Dot album (Coffins on lo) (which can be streamed below), former Kayo Dot and Maudlin of the Well guitarist Greg Massi (currently in Baliset) interviewed current and former members of both bands on The Color of Air podcast.

Starting with Episode 11, guitarist Ron Varod talks about becoming a new member of Kayo Dot, his other bands, influences, gear, and 90’s music. In Episode 12, Greg Massi answers a variety of questions and sheds light on the history of the bands. Composer/multi-instrumentalist/singer Toby Driver (who is also in Vaura and Secret Chiefs 3discusses music promotion, the meaning of the word pretenious and his new music on Episode 12, while Episode 13 features original Maudlin of the Well and Kayo Dot lyricist/vocalist Jason Byron.

For those who aren't familiar with Kayo Dot or Maudlin of the Well, both bands feature compositional music that is difficult to classify. Maudlin of the Well was avant-garde metal/gothic rock band with horns, strings, keyboards and extreme dynamics. Before the release of Choirs of the Eye, Driver changed the band name to Kayo Dot due to a substantial change in style. Kayo Dot is even less describable and their musical style morphs with each release. To hear the catalog of music from Kayo Dot and Maudlin of the Well, go to http://kayodot.bandcamp.com/
