Road Home show flyter

Recently, Scott Kelly fans have been abuzz with the announcement that his band Road Home has cemented a permanent lineup. Road Home was founded as a Neurosis side project (formerly Scott Kelly and the Road Home) but the addition of Neurosis band mate Noah Landis and Munly J. Munly (Slim Cessnas Auto Club) has signaled the beginning of a new era for the act.

Upstart Baltimore-based Grimoire Records first came to my attention a few months ago when Highpriest’s excellent Shift EP landed in my inbox (which I reviewed here). Now they’re on my radar again with Crawling Mountain Apogee, the forthcoming split from Myopic and Torrid Husk, which I’ve been listening to almost non-stop for the last week. If you’ve slept on Grimoire Records thus far, it’s time to for that to change, because they are quickly becoming a label worth paying very close attention to.

Almost two years ago, I found an album on the internet and it was, in many ways, life-changing. It was atmospheric, haunting, and crushingly majestic. It sort of fell within the same box as established acts like Cult of Luna, ISIS, Neurosis and so on, but also with something new added to the mix. That album was Metamorphosis by a band named Crib45, hailing from Finland. It is and will always be, one of my personal favorite albums.
